Amit Shah Files Nomination for Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Seat

Union Home Minister Amit Shah filed his nomination for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat on April 19, 2024. He expressed confidence that the NDA will secure 400 seats in the upcoming elections. Shah was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during the nomination filing.

"It is a matter of pride for me to represent this seat, which was previously held by LK Advani, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Narendra Modi," Shah said. "I have served as an MLA and MP from this seat for 30 years, and the people of this region have given me immense love. I was once a small-time booth worker, and now I have reached the Parliament from this constituency."

Shah highlighted the development projects worth Rs 22,000 crore that have been completed in Gandhinagar during the last five years. He is seeking re-election from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency for a second term.

Congress has fielded its party secretary Sonal Patel against Shah. Patel filed her nomination on April 16.

In the 2019 elections, Shah won the Gandhinagar seat with a vote share of 69.67%, defeating Congress candidate CJ Chavda who received 26.29% of the votes. Shah won by a margin of over 5 lakh votes.

Gandhinagar North, Kalol, Sanand, Ghatlodia, Vejalpur, Naranpura, and Sabarmati. All these assembly seats are currently held by the BJP.

Previously, the seat was represented by BJP veteran and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani.

Voting for all 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held in a single phase on May 7, 2024, as part of the third phase of the national elections.
