Vitamix Recalls Blending Containers and Blade Bases Due to Laceration Hazard

Vitamix has issued a recall for more than 569,000 blending containers and blade bases, which includes the Ascent and Venturist Series 8-ounce and 20-ounce models. The company, based in Cleveland, Ohio, states that there have been 27 reported cases of lacerations caused by the containers detaching from the blade base, exposing the blades and posing a hazard to users. This recall also encompasses items that were previously repaired in a recall back in August 2018.

The affected products were sold at various retailers like Best Buy, Costco, Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Target, Walmart, and Williams Sonoma, as well as online platforms such as Amazon, QVC, and Vitamix, from April 2017 through May 2024. The price range for the blender and blending containers varied from $30 to $990 when purchased with other products. In addition to the units sold in the United States, about 121,950 blending containers and blade bases were distributed in Canada.

To address the safety concern, Vitamix advises consumers who possess the recalled products to discontinue use immediately. Those affected should contact Vitamix to receive a protective plastic shroud that can be attached over the blade base, along with additional instructional labels. The company can be reached via phone at 855-215-5178 during business hours or through email at service@vitamix.com for further assistance.
