Xiaomi Unveils All-Electric Sports Sedan SU7 at 10th Anniversary Event in India

Xiaomi, a prominent Chinese tech giant renowned for its smartphone market dominance in India, unveiled its debut into the electric car sector by showcasing the Xiaomi SU7, an all-electric sports sedan, at its 10th-anniversary event in India. The SU7, also known as the Speed Ultra, was originally launched in China earlier in the year, boasting remarkable features and specifications. The vehicle, with over 70,000 bookings and a target of 100,000 deliveries by year-end in China, is priced competitively at around ₹25 lakh ($30,000), positioning it as a more affordable option compared to the Tesla Model 3 in the country.

The Xiaomi SU7, measuring 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,455 mm in height, features a 3,000 mm wheelbase, providing a spacious front trunk of 105 liters and a large 517-liter boot. In China, the SU7 is available in two variants offering impressive driving ranges of up to 668 km and 800 km on a single charge, with impressive performance metrics like a top speed of 265 km/h and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in under three seconds. While the immediate availability of the Xiaomi SU7 in India remains uncertain, its showcase indicates Xiaomi's strategic intent to diversify its product offerings and potentially enter the Indian electric vehicle market as it continues to grow, intensifying the competition among international players seeking a foothold in the country.
