Update on Phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Uttar Pradesh and Other States

Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 will witness voters from 13 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh casting their votes on May 13. The constituencies where voting will take place include Shahjahanpur (SC), Kheri, Dhaurahra, Sitapur, Hardoi (SC), Misrikh (SC), Unnao, Farrukhabad, Etawah (SC), Kannauj, Kanpur, Akbarpur, and Bahraich (SC), with a total of 130 candidates running for seats in this phase. Notable faces in this phase of the electoral race include Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP) contesting against sitting BJP MP Subrat Pathak in Kannauj, and BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj facing SP's Annu Tandon in Unnao.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded 11 sitting MPs and introduced new candidates Ramesh Awasthi and Anand Kumar for the Kanpur and Bahraich-SC seats, respectively. Meanwhile, the SP has nominated candidates in 11 Lok Sabha seats during this phase, and Congress has put up Alok Misra for Kanpur and Rakesh Rathor in Sitapur. Over 2.46 crore voters are eligible to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming phase of the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh.

Aside from Uttar Pradesh, phase 4 of the general elections also encompasses voting in 10 states/union territories, with a total of 96 seats up for grabs. Notable candidates in this phase include Madhavi Latha from Hyderabad, Bandi Sanjay Kumar from Karimnagar, Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, Y S Sharmila from Kadapa, Arjun Munda from Khunti, Shatrughan Sinha from Asansol, and Yusuf Pathan along with Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary from Baharampur. The remaining three phases of the Lok Sabha polls are scheduled for May 20, May 25, and June 1, with the results set to be declared on June 4, three days after the final phase of voting.
