Vazrazhdane Party Chairman Kostadin Kostadinov on Government, MRF, and Delyan Peevski

Vazrazhdane party chairman Kostadin Kostadinov made it clear that his party would not back a government that has the support of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), regardless of whether Delyan Peevski, a controversial figure in Bulgarian politics, is involved or not. Kostadinov highlighted his belief that merely removing Peevski from the scene would not be enough to eliminate the problems associated with his presence, as the root causes that allow individuals like Peevski to thrive still exist within the political landscape.

During a meeting with representatives of the "There is Such a People" party (ITN) to discuss potential support for a third mandate for cabinet formation, Kostadinov expressed concerns about the broader implications of Peevski's influence on Bulgarian politics. He warned that even if Peevski were to be removed, the conditions that foster individuals like him would remain, potentially paving the way for similar figures to emerge in the future and exert control over crucial aspects of the country's governance.

Despite their differences regarding Peevski and the MRF's involvement in government, Kostadinov and negotiators from ITN identified shared priorities that could serve as a basis for cooperation. Common areas of focus included energy policy, where they aimed to renegotiate aspects of the green deal, as well as addressing issues related to holding referendums and combating the demographic challenges facing the country. ITN celebrated securing 66 votes in parliament, indicating potential progress in garnering support for their initiatives within the political landscape.
