In a troubling incident at the central beach in Sozopol, a 9-year-old boy became trapped inside a beach cleaning machine's hydraulic drum. The boy was with a group of children who were chasing after the machine when he climbed onto the tractor device for a few seconds, lost his balance, and fell into the machinery.
Kiril Spasov, the beach's concessionaire, described the frantic moments when the driver of the cleaning machine stopped the equipment and used whatever tools he could find to rescue the boy before calling for an ambulance. Despite being initially taken to the hospital in Burgas, where medical professionals diagnosed him with life-threatening head and spine injuries, the boy was later airlifted to Pirogov emergency hospital in Sofia for specialized care.
Authorities have taken swift action following the incident, with the driver of the cleaning machine being detained for 24 hours as part of the ongoing investigation. Witnesses are also being questioned, and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and ensure accountability for the troubling event that unfolded on the beach in Sozopol.
