Deadly Clashes in Bangladesh as Calls for Prime Minister's Resignation Escalate

In Bangladesh, a wave of unrest has gripped the nation as protesters demand the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The death toll from the clashes reached at least 91, marking the deadliest single day of protests in recent Bangladeshi history.

Critics of Hasina's government, including human rights groups, have accused the authorities of using excessive force against the demonstrators. This has led to widespread violence, with police stations and ruling party offices being targeted, and major highways being blocked by protesters.

As the situation escalates, the government has imposed an indefinite nationwide curfew and ordered a shutdown of internet services. The violence has spread across different districts, resulting in casualties, including police officers, construction workers, students, ruling party activists, and bystanders. Chief of Army Staff Gen. Waker-Uz-Zaman has instructed the army to ensure the security of the people and important state installations under all circumstances.
