Bail Pleas and Judicial Custody
The Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi has reserved its order on the bail pleas of five accused individuals involved in a transnational cyber fraud case. The court will pronounce its decision on August 13th.
The accused, Dhruv Khattar, Ritesh Kumar, Ravindra Gupta, Hazim Imtiyaz, and Mir Gazanfar Gul, are alleged to have defrauded US citizens of 15 million US dollars. Their lawyers presented arguments in their defense, while the CBI public prosecutor argued against their release.
Meanwhile, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) extended the judicial custody of 38 other accused persons in the same case until August 23rd. One accused was not produced from jail.
Four additional accused were remanded to judicial custody after undergoing CBI interrogation. The court has directed that all 43 accused be produced on the next date through video conferencing from Tihar Jail.
The court also directed the jail authorities to produce the medical record of one of the accused, Abhishek Bisht. Advocate Bharat Arora represented Abhishek Bisht, while advocate Arun Khatri represented Dhruv Khattar.
The CBI arrested 43 individuals, including four women, in this case on July 25th from Gurugram. The investigation alleges that the accused defrauded US citizens of 15 million US dollars.
