NCB Mumbai Busts Interstate Drug Syndicate in Ulhasnagar
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai has successfully neutralized an interstate drug syndicate operating from Ulhasnagar in Thane district. The operation, conducted on August 10, 2024, resulted in the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal drugs.
The NCB team, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a consignment of 4,800 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup (CBCS) at a courier office in Ulhasnagar. The first suspect, Vinod P, was apprehended at the scene. Subsequent interrogations revealed details about other members of the syndicate, leading to the arrest of Manish P, Akash P, Raj K, Mohanish S, and Sunny J in the Bhiwandi area on August 9, 2024.
During searches, the NCB officials seized 75 kg of Ganja, concealed in travel bags, trolley bags, and gunny bags. Additionally, Rs 1,18,860 in cash, believed to be proceeds from previous drug sales, was also seized.
All six individuals have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
