Covid-19 Cases Rise in Bulgaria and Europe
Associate Professor Angel Kunchev, Chief State Health Inspector, reported an increase in Covid-19 cases over the past few weeks in Bulgaria and across Europe. While official reports show 200-250 cases weekly, the actual number is estimated to be 5-6 times higher. Kunchev attributed this discrepancy to milder infections, leading people to avoid doctor visits and testing.
He emphasized that Bulgaria is far from pandemic levels, and Covid-19 is now considered one of many respiratory viruses. Kunchev also dismissed concerns about Covid-19 being brought in from Greece, stating that the higher number of reported cases there is due to increased testing, not a higher incidence.
Professor Iva Hristova, Director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, confirmed the cleanliness of seawater and attributed infections to poor hygiene.
