Korean Air Removes Shin Ramyun from Economy Class Menu
Starting August 15th, Korean Air will no longer offer Shin Ramyun instant noodles to economy class passengers. This decision is part of the airline's proactive safety measures to prevent burn accidents caused by turbulence.
The instant noodles were previously available as part of the self-serve snack bar offered to economy passengers on long-haul flights. As a replacement, Korean Air has introduced new snack options such as sandwiches, corn dogs, and hot pockets.
Business and first-class passengers will still be able to enjoy Shin Ramyun, as the noodles are served individually, reducing the risk of spills.
The airline's decision reflects the growing concern about the dangers of serving hot food and liquids on airplanes. Several airlines have faced lawsuits from passengers who suffered burns from spilled hot beverages.
Turbulence can further increase the risk of spills and injuries. While most turbulence-related injuries are minor, airlines are taking steps to mitigate the risks, including suspending cabin service when necessary and exercising caution when distributing certain refreshments.
Some experts believe that turbulence encounters are becoming more frequent due to climate change. This highlights the importance of airlines' efforts to ensure passenger safety during turbulent flights.
