A Powerhouse of Entrepreneurship and Job Creation
Tamil Nadu's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector plays a vital role in the state's economy, contributing significantly to industrial output, employment, and exports. Minister for Industries T R B Rajaa highlighted the sector's importance, stating that it accounts for 15% of the country's MSME sector and employs approximately 14 million people.
Valarchiyai Noki" project aims to support 1,000 micro-entrepreneurs from nine districts, providing them with the resources and guidance needed to grow their businesses.
CII officials emphasized the unique needs of micro-enterprises and the importance of tailoring support programs accordingly. The project will initially focus on micro-entrepreneurs from Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Tuticorin, and Salem.
The MSME sector's contribution to Tamil Nadu's economy is undeniable. It accounts for 30% of the state's industrial output and 45% of its exports. The government's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and job creation within this sector is crucial for driving the state's economic development and achieving its goal of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy.
