Kishida emphasized the government's commitment to promoting the mass production of cutting-edge chips by announcing plans to introduce legislation that will increase funding for such projects. The government aims to push forward legislation that will facilitate the production of state-of-the-art semiconductors, with Rapidus Corp. planning to develop prototypes with a line width of 2 nanometers by 2025 and commence mass production by 2027. To support this initiative, the government has allocated up to 920 billion yen ($6.04 billion) in funding for the project, showcasing its dedication to promoting technological innovation in the semiconductor industry.
