Tata Steel's Online Platform Aashiyana Sees Significant Growth in Home Building Segment

Ashish Anupam, Vice President-Long Products at Tata Steel, expressed the company's intentions to enhance Aashiyana with suitable offerings to capitalize on its growth potential. Aashiyana has played a significant role in the construction of approximately 72,000 homes in the past year, reflecting only a fraction of the three million homes built annually in India, indicating substantial room for growth.

In FY24, Tata Steel's online platform for home solutions, Aashiyana, witnessed a 30% year-on-year increase in GMV, reaching Rs 2,240 crore, with expectations to surpass Rs 3,500 crore in FY25. The platform targets customers primarily from Tier 2 or 3 towns, while also attracting a growing number of younger consumers and a segment of the Indian diaspora seeking trustworthy partners for home building projects in India. Anupam emphasized the importance of expanding reach and scale, particularly in rural India, highlighting digital channels as a solution for widespread access across the country. The online retail facet of Aashiyana operates through an offline network with authorized dealers serving as sellers in the closed marketplace, covering close to 10,000 pin codes nationally.
