Pawan Kumar Gupta, the BJP candidate from Udhampur West Assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, officially entered the electoral race by submitting his nomination papers for the upcoming Assembly elections. He showcased his support by organizing a roadshow where numerous BJP workers joined in, demonstrating solidarity by waving BJP flags as Gupta greeted them from an open vehicle during the procession.
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with the final results being unveiled on October 8. This electoral event carries significant weight as it marks the initial assembly elections post the revocation of Article 370 in the region. With 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, 7 seats are reserved for SCs and 9 for STs, making it a critical political landscape for various parties competing for these positions.
Furthermore, the BJP unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The manifesto comprises 25 promises aimed at various segments of society, including women, youth, Kashmiri Pandits, and addressing issues like terrorism. With a focus on women-led development, the BJP manifesto pledges initiatives such as the 'Maa Samman Yojana' to provide financial assistance to senior women in households and support for Women SHGs in accessing bank loans. Additionally, the National Conference and Congress party have joined forces for the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) has extended its backing to the Congress and National Conference alliance during these elections.
