Japan Condemns Chinese Military Aircraft Airspace Violation
The Japanese government has strongly condemned the violation of its airspace by a Chinese military aircraft, calling it "utterly unacceptable." This incident, which occurred on Monday, saw a Chinese Y-9 reconnaissance plane fly over the Danjo Islands for approximately two minutes.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi expressed the government's deep concern, stating that the airspace breach not only violated Japan's sovereignty but also posed a threat to its security. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the increasing Chinese military activity near Japan and will be fully prepared to respond to any future airspace violations.
This incident marks the first time a Chinese military aircraft has violated Japan's airspace. However, previous airspace violations by Chinese government aircraft have occurred in 2012 and 2017. The Japanese government has summoned a Chinese embassy official in Tokyo to lodge a formal protest and is currently engaged in diplomatic talks with Beijing regarding the incident.
The Japanese government's strong response reflects the seriousness with which it views this airspace violation. The incident is likely to further strain relations between Japan and China, which have been tense in recent years due to territorial disputes and other issues.
