President Rumen Radev expressed his expectation for the Central Election Commission to uphold the provisions of the Electoral Code rigorously during a ceremony in Radnevo commemorating the town's 60th anniversary. He stressed that this issue goes beyond mere internal party conflicts or election campaigns, as he believes it directly impacts the future of the nation. President Radev warned about the potential collapse of society if indifference persists, attributing the current situation to a disturbing trend of businesses being exploited and destroyed, institutions corrupted, and powerful figures shielded despite involvement in significant corruption cases.
President Radev was particularly critical of the entry of discredited individuals with significant ambitions into the National Assembly, highlighting their ability to influence state resources and the fate of the Bulgarian people. He denounced these actions being carried out under the guise of Euro-Atlanticism by individuals sanctioned by strategic partners for their involvement in grand corruption, considering it an insult to the intelligence of Bulgarians and their Euro-Atlantic allies. The President emphasized that such behaviors not only erode democracy but also jeopardize Bulgaria's European future, calling for a unified stance and decisive actions from various institutions, services, the prosecutor's office, parliament, and political parties to address this fundamental issue.
