A Night of Unity, Responsibility, and a Shared Legacy

A Celebration of Unity and Responsibility

The city of Plovdiv witnessed a vibrant celebration of the 139th anniversary of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia. The festivities culminated in a spectacular fireworks display, illuminating the night sky and symbolizing the enduring spirit of unity that binds the Bulgarian people.

President Rumen Radev, in his address, paid tribute to the visionary figures who, driven by their unwavering ideals, defied the interests of powerful nations and shattered the shackles of historical injustice. He emphasized that nihilism offers no solutions, and the path forward lies in rediscovering the timeless lessons of 1885.

"The solution lies in the civic reassessment and personal responsibility of each one of us," President Radev declared. "In our ability as a society to abandon lawlessness and arrogance, fear and apathy, and everything that hinders the nation's progress. Only then can we truly fulfill the legacy of those who dedicated their lives to this sacred cause – the Unification."

The ceremony at Unification Square drew a diverse crowd, including National Assembly Speaker Raya Nazaryan, caretaker Premier Dimitar Glavchev, Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov, Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov, Metropolitan Nikolay of Plovdiv, politicians, and citizens from all walks of life. Their presence underscored the enduring significance of the Unification Day, a testament to the shared history and aspirations of the Bulgarian people.

This celebration served as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of unity and the unwavering responsibility that each individual bears in shaping the nation's future. As Bulgaria continues to navigate the challenges of the present, the lessons of the Unification Day remain a beacon of hope and inspiration, guiding the nation towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
