Bulgarian Red Cross Conducts "Madara 24" Exercise to Enhance Disaster Response Capabilities

Enhancing Disaster Response Capabilities

From today until September 13, over a hundred volunteers from the Bulgarian Red Cross's disaster and crisis action teams, alongside representatives from the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, will participate in the national exercise "Madara 24." The event will take place near the village of Madara in the Kireka locality of the Shumen region.

The primary objective of "Madara 24" is to enhance the preparedness and effectiveness of the Red Cross in responding to disasters and crisis situations. The exercise will focus on improving the organization's internal coordination and collaboration with other relevant institutions.

A key highlight of the exercise will be a training session held on September 12th at the Kyulevcha dam. This session will involve a simulated disaster scenario, showcasing the Red Cross's ability to provide assistance to numerous victims. Volunteers from the Unified Rescue System will also participate in this crucial training exercise.

Through "Madara 24," the Bulgarian Red Cross aims to strengthen its capacity to deliver immediate and effective aid to those affected by disasters and crises. The exercise will also serve as a valuable platform for fostering collaboration and coordination among various stakeholders involved in disaster response efforts.
