In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections in four states, prominent Congress leaders gathered for a meeting at the AICC headquarters in Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge presided over the meeting, which was also attended by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal.
During the meeting, discussions likely revolved around election strategies and candidate selections for the upcoming polls in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra. The Congress party is actively preparing for the elections, with a focus on strengthening its position in these key states.
Furthermore, the Congress party made key appointments within the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), appointing MPs Ranjeet Ranjan, MK Raghavan, and Amar Singh as secretaries, and Vijay Vasanth as Treasurer, under the leadership of CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. These appointments were officially announced by KC Venugopal, indicating the party's efforts to streamline its organizational structure ahead of the elections.
The upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, while polling for Haryana's 90-member legislative assembly will occur on October 5, with the vote count slated for October 8. Meanwhile, Jharkhand is gearing up for an election for its 81-member legislative assembly, and Maharashtra will witness elections for its 288 assembly constituencies later this year. The Congress's proactive approach and organizational reshuffling reflect its commitment to making a strong electoral impact in these crucial states.
