Vijayawada Recovers from Devastating Floods
TDP MLA Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao visited the flood-affected Ambapuram village in Vijayawada on Tuesday, September 10th. He assessed the ongoing relief operations and interacted with residents who had been displaced by the floods.
Heavy rainfall had caused severe waterlogging in Vijayawada for ten consecutive days, starting on August 31st. While floodwaters had receded in many areas, some remained submerged. Residents were evacuated to relief camps, where they received food, water, and medical attention.
On Monday, September 9th, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu inspected the flood-affected areas and met with residents. He assured them that the government would do everything possible to help them rebuild their lives.
Naidu attributed the flooding to the previous government's negligence in maintaining canals and irrigation projects. He announced that the government would send experts to assess the damage to homes and vehicles and provide financial assistance for repairs.
The state government also set up a medical camp in the area to prevent the spread of diseases. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav reported that over 100,000 people had been treated at the camp and that door-to-door surveys were being conducted to identify and address health concerns.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited the flood-affected areas on September 6th and assessed the damage to agricultural fields. He announced that the central government would provide full cooperation and support to the state during this time of crisis.
