India and Germany Discuss Ukraine, Gaza, and Indo-Pacific Region

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Berlin on September 10, 2024. They discussed a range of issues, including the situation in Ukraine, the Gaza conflict, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Jaishankar also highlighted the growing cooperation between India and Germany in various fields, including trade, investment, green development, skilled worker mobility, technology, defense, and security. He mentioned the first-ever air exercises conducted between the two countries this year and expressed hope for welcoming German naval ships in Goa next month.

The ministers also discussed the 100-day agenda of Prime Minister Modi, which includes creating 12 new industrial zones across India, initiating a larger skilling program, and expanding logistics infrastructure. Jaishankar emphasized the potential for India-Germany cooperation in new and emerging technologies, including semiconductors, electric mobility, and renewables.

Jaishankar also mentioned the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement signed during Baerbock's visit to India in December 2022. He noted the significant increase in the number of Indian students in Germany and expressed gratitude for Baerbock's efforts in improving the speed and efficiency of visa issuance in India.

Overall, the meeting between Jaishankar and Baerbock underscored the strong and growing partnership between India and Germany. They discussed various areas of cooperation and expressed their commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relationship.
