The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi has introduced a new initiative in collaboration with Rapido, a bike taxi company, to provide free rides to voters in Delhi on the polling day scheduled for May 25. This partnership aims to eliminate transportation obstacles that may prevent individuals from voting and hopes to encourage more citizens to participate in the democratic process by casting their vote. Through this initiative, eligible voters in Delhi will have the option to utilize a complimentary bike ride service from the polling booths to their residences, making it easier for them to fulfill their civic duty.
According to an official statement released by the Delhi CEO's office, the objective of this collaboration with Rapido is to ensure that every eligible voter can exercise their right to vote without facing any hindrances. By offering free bike rides on the polling day, the Chief Electoral Officer, P. Krishnamurthy, emphasizes the importance of voter turnout and believes that each vote plays a crucial role in the democratic process. The arrangement allows voters to use the Rapido app to book a ride after casting their vote, and a bike rider will pick them up from the polling station and drop them off at their homes safely.
With a substantial pool of eight lakh bike drivers in Delhi and an extensive subscriber base of 80 lakh, Rapido is well-equipped to facilitate the provision of free bike rides for voters across the city on the polling day. This initiative not only aims to provide a convenient transportation option for voters but also underscores the significance of citizens actively participating in the electoral process. Additionally, the collaboration between the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer's office and Rapido highlights the commitment to ensuring that all eligible voters have the opportunity to make their voices heard by casting their vote.
