Nissan Motor Co. recently unveiled a breakthrough in vehicle technology with the development of a new type of paint aimed at lowering the interior temperature of cars parked under the scorching sun. The experimental paint, which was showcased during an outdoor demonstration in August, has shown promising results in reducing the surface temperature of vehicles by as much as 12 degrees when compared to those with traditional paint jobs.
According to tests conducted by Nissan, cars coated with this new material have maintained temperatures significantly lower than standard paint-covered vehicles when exposed to direct sunlight. This advancement in paint technology serves a dual purpose by not only keeping the car body cooler but also preventing the interior of the vehicle from heating up excessively. The innovative paint achieves this by imitating the natural process of radiative cooling, where heat is released to cool the surface, much like how the ground cools down through this mechanism.
