Protocol Concerns Arise During President Siljanovska-Davkova's Cultural Visit to Sofia

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova of North Macedonia visited Sofia to attend a cultural event featuring the National Opera and Ballet of North Macedonia. This visit was not considered a state, official, or working visit.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that protocol practices do not require the performance of anthems, the display of additional state flags, or other protocol elements during such visits. This statement was issued in response to speculation from the government in Skopje that the protocol of the meeting between President Siljanovska-Davkova and her Bulgarian counterpart, Rumen Radev, was violated due to the absence of the North Macedonian flag.

Furthermore, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended invitations to the ministers accompanying President Siljanovska-Davkova for meetings with their counterparts. However, the invitation from Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov to North Macedonian Foreign Minister Timčo Mucunski was declined. This demonstrates Bulgaria's commitment to maintaining good neighborly relations and fostering open dialogue with North Macedonia.
