Promoting Heart Health in Bulgaria
In celebration of World Heart Day, the Bulgarian Society of Cardiology organized the "Take a Walk with Your Cardiologist" initiative in major cities across the country. This event aimed to highlight the importance of regular moderate physical activity in preventing cardiovascular diseases, which remain the leading cause of death in Bulgaria.
Participants had the opportunity to walk alongside cardiologists, engaging in conversations about heart health and receiving informative materials. Among them was Dimitar Kostov from Smolyan, who shared his experience as a heart transplant recipient and emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
The initiative extended beyond the walks, with the "Heart Week" program scheduled to take place in schools from September 30th to October 4th. This program aims to educate students about the main risk factors for heart disease and empower them to adopt healthy habits for a strong and healthy heart.
World Heart Day culminated in a spectacular display at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, where 50 drones painted a heart in the sky, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing heart health.
