Tata Power and Rajasthan Government Ink Rs 1.2 Lakh Crore Pact for Green Energy Transformation

Tata Power and Rajasthan Government Join Forces for Green Energy Transformation

Tata Power and the Rajasthan government have signed a landmark 10-year agreement, involving an investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore, to transform the state's power sector and accelerate its transition to clean energy.

This ambitious plan aims to make Rajasthan a power surplus state, providing 24/7 clean, affordable, and reliable power supply. The MoU will position Rajasthan at the forefront of India's clean energy transition, significantly contributing to the nation's energy goals.

The agreement encompasses comprehensive investments across the entire power value chain, from generation to transmission and distribution (T&D) reforms. This includes cutting-edge renewable energy projects across the state, including solar, wind, hybrid, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), as well as rooftop solar and EV charging infrastructure.

Investments will be directed towards renewable energy projects and manufacturing, transmission, distribution, nuclear power, rooftop installations, and EV charging. A significant portion, Rs 20,000 crore, will be dedicated to modernizing the state's transmission and distribution network, reducing energy losses, and improving power quality.

Furthermore, Rs 10,000 crore will be invested in transmission systems and exploring opportunities to develop nuclear power plants. An additional Rs 1,000 crore has been earmarked for setting up 1 lakh EV charging points across Rajasthan, while rooftop solar power for 10 lakh households will support the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

This partnership is expected to create over 28,000 direct jobs in the state. Tata Power will also contribute to the growth of local industries in areas such as solar manufacturing, infrastructure development, and renewable energy innovations. The large-scale integration of renewables will lower energy costs for industries and consumers, making Rajasthan an attractive destination for green investments and sustainable industrial development.

Tata Power has already established a strong presence in Rajasthan, having successfully commissioned 1 GW of solar projects, 185 MW of wind projects, and 130 MW of rooftop solar installations in the state. This new agreement further strengthens their commitment to powering Rajasthan's clean energy future.
