A Detailed Look
The iPhone 16 series has arrived in India, with the base model starting at Rs 79,900. We've had the chance to review the iPhone 16, and here's a breakdown of its key features and our overall impressions.
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus sport new colors – Ultramarine, Teal, and Deeper Pink – and a revised camera placement. This change distinguishes them from older models and potentially hints at Apple's focus on spatial video recording. The colors are now integrated into the glass, creating a more seamless look.
While the display remains at 60Hz, which might feel dated compared to other devices offering 120Hz, the iPhone 16 boasts a powerful A18 chip for enhanced performance.
The iPhone 16's camera has received notable upgrades. The 12MP ultra-wide sensor now captures macro shots, and the ability to shoot 1080p at 240fps allows for cinema-quality slow-motion video.
The iPhone 16 now features an Action Button, previously exclusive to Pro models. This customizable button offers versatility, allowing users to assign various functions. Additionally, the much-discussed capacitive touch button for camera controls is now available on the iPhone 16, providing an intuitive experience similar to the MacBook trackpad.
Apple Intelligence, a key highlight of the new release, has also made its way to the iPhone 16 lineup. This brings improved contextual features like email proofreading and note summarization, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models.
Should You Upgrade?
If you're using an older iPhone model and want a future-proof device, the iPhone 16 is a solid choice. However, if you already own an iPhone 14 or aren't particularly interested in Apple Intelligence, you might want to wait. Many of the updates are incremental, and Apple Intelligence may be further refined by the time the iPhone 17 arrives. Ultimately, the decision to upgrade depends on your individual needs and preferences.
