Delhi Election Commission Partners with Rapido to Offer Free Rides for Voters on Polling Day

Free Bike Rides to Encourage Voting in Delhi

The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi has announced a unique initiative for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on May 25th. In collaboration with the bike taxi company Rapido, eligible voters will receive free rides from their polling booths to their homes.

This collaboration aims to address transportation barriers and encourage citizens to exercise their democratic right to vote. Voters in Delhi will have the option to book a free ride using the Rapido app after casting their vote. A rider will pick them up from the polling station and drop them safely at their home.

"With the initiative of free bike rides on the polling day, we aim to ensure ease of voting experience and to encourage citizens to exercise their vote and contribute to the democratic process," said P. Krishnamurthy, Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi. "Every vote counts and it is essential to ensure that every eligible voter can cast their vote without hindrance."

Rapido has a large pool of drivers in Delhi, ensuring availability across the city. A total of 367 candidates have filed nominations for the Lok Sabha elections from Delhi, with 162 remaining in the contest after withdrawals and rejections.
