Dengue Cases Surge in Pakistan's Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi, Pakistan, is experiencing a sharp rise in dengue cases, with 95 new cases reported on Sunday, October 13th, 2024. This marks the highest single-day count in the city this year. The total number of dengue cases in Rawalpindi since January 2024 has reached 2,736.
Currently, 229 dengue patients are receiving treatment in Rawalpindi, and six deaths have been reported this year. Across Punjab province, the total number of dengue cases for 2024 has reached 3,285, with 997 new cases identified in the past week.
The health department of Pakistan has assured the public that all necessary arrangements are in place to counter the outbreak. Adequate stocks of medicine are available in public hospitals across the province. Officials are emphasizing the importance of public vigilance and preventive measures to contain the spread of the virus.
On Saturday, October 12th, 2024, the Punjab Health Department reported a surge in dengue cases across the province, with 149 new cases emerging in the last 24 hours. Rawalpindi continues to be the worst-hit district, with 134 new cases reported. Bahawalpur and Lahore have also been affected, with three and two cases respectively. Other districts reporting cases include Sheikhupura, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Attock, Kasur, Mianwali, Khanewal, Nankana Sahib, and Narowal.
