US Sanctions Three Bulgarian Companies for Supporting Russian Military

The United States has imposed sanctions on three Bulgarian companies for their alleged involvement in supplying the Russian military with aviation components and other materials used in the ongoing war against Ukraine. The sanctions were announced by the US Department of State and the Department of the Treasury.

AIR LEO M AND E LTD EOOD in Varna, owned by Veselin Isakov. This company is accused of shipping microelectronic and aviation components to Russia-based companies. Isakov, who learned about the sanctions from the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), requested additional time before making a statement. He also owns a similarly named company, AIR LEO, based in the United Arab Emirates, which is also included in the sanctions list.

Mirex BG OOD and GNO Investment, both owned by Turkish businessman Ozgur Hasan Celik. These companies are accused of using their operations in Bulgaria and Turkey to manufacture equipment for Russian military companies.

The US government alleges that these companies have played a role in enabling the Russian military to continue its war in Ukraine. The sanctions will freeze any assets these companies hold in the United States and prohibit US citizens from doing business with them.
