Victoria Braces for Another Day of High Grass Pollen Levels
After a difficult Saturday night for many Victorians with hay fever and asthma, high to extreme grass pollen levels are forecast again for this afternoon. The pollen count has been steadily increasing over the past 24 hours, reaching very significant and extreme levels last night before slowly dropping. However, levels remained within the extreme range until around 7 am this morning.
The reprieve is expected to be short-lived, with high levels of grass pollen predicted for much of Victoria and extreme levels in the north central and north east regions. This afternoon is anticipated to be challenging for people with hay fever, particularly those with asthma.
VicEmergency has also issued a moderate risk warning for thunderstorm asthma in East Gippsland.
Victoria is now entering its peak grass pollen season, with a number of high and extreme pollen days expected during this time. It is crucial for people with hay fever and asthma to be prepared.
If you have asthma, ensure you have an asthma action plan in place. If you experience severe hay fever, consult your GP or pharmacist for advice.
