Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez are set to inaugurate the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara, which represents a significant milestone as the first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft in India. The plant will be responsible for manufacturing C-295 aircraft, with a production agreement in place for a total of 56 aircraft, split between Airbus delivering 16 and Tata Advanced Systems creating the remaining 40 within India.
This venture involves a comprehensive approach, encompassing the entire lifecycle of aircraft development, from manufacturing and assembling to testing, delivery, and maintenance. The collaboration also includes contributions from Bharat Electronics, Bharat Dynamics, as well as private micro, small, and medium enterprises, to ensure a holistic program.
The foundation stone for the facility was laid by PM Modi in October 2022, setting the stage for the inauguration by PM Modi and PM Sanchez, who will lead a roadshow from the airport to the Tata Advanced Systems facility. Following the inauguration, the leaders are scheduled to engage in a bilateral meeting at the Laxmi Vilas Palace, the erstwhile residence of the Baroda royal family, and further visit other development projects in Amreli.
