Tata-Airbus C-295 Aircraft Manufacturing Facility Inaugurated in Vadodara
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated the Tata-Airbus C-295 aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara, India, marking a significant milestone in the country's aerospace journey. This state-of-the-art facility will not only cater to India's growing defense needs but also pave the way for future exports, bolstering the nation's position as a global manufacturing hub.
The inauguration ceremony was a poignant tribute to the late Ratan Tata, former chairman of Tata Sons, who played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and laying the foundation for this project. Prime Minister Modi acknowledged Tata's visionary leadership, stating that the facility embodies the "new work culture of New India."
The C-295 aircraft, a versatile transport aircraft, will be manufactured in India under a joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus Defence and Space. The facility will produce a total of 56 aircraft, with Tata Advanced Systems responsible for 40 and Airbus delivering the remaining 16. This collaboration not only signifies a transfer of technology but also fosters the development of a complete ecosystem encompassing manufacturing, maintenance, and training.
Prime Minister Sanchez highlighted the positive impact this project will have on both India and Spain. He emphasized the creation of thousands of jobs, both directly and indirectly, and the potential for Indian companies to leverage Spain's expertise for further growth. He also commended Gujarat's position as a manufacturing hub and expressed confidence in the facility's contribution to modernizing India's defense capabilities and driving technological advancements.
N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, echoed the sentiment of collaboration and innovation. He acknowledged Ratan Tata's vision and leadership in forging the partnership with Airbus, paving the way for this groundbreaking initiative.
