GERB/SDS Initiates Talks for Joint Political Action in the 51st National Assembly
The GERB/SDS coalition has begun talks to discuss potential joint political action within the 51st National Assembly. The meetings commenced on Wednesday, November 13th, with the Bulgarian Socialist Party-United Left at 8:30 AM and with There Is Such a People (ITN) at 9:30 AM.
Representing GERB/SDS in these discussions are party chairman Boyko Borrisov, along with MPs Raya Nazaryan, Tomislav Donchev, and Rosen Zhelyazkov. These meetings are scheduled to conclude before 11 AM, when the first sitting of the 51st parliament resumes. The initial session was adjourned on Monday due to the parliament's failure to elect a president.
Regarding these upcoming meetings, GERB leader Boyko Borissov outlined the potential for forming a government within the 51st National Assembly. He identified a possible coalition consisting of ITN, BSP-United Left, GERB-SDS, and We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB). The initial talks will focus on ITN and BSP-United Left, with a potential meeting with PP-DB to follow depending on the outcomes. Borissov emphasized that for such a coalition to function effectively, he must be the prime minister to ensure clear political responsibility.
