In a recent development, Vikram Singh from Mathura was apprehended by the Special Task Force (STF) in Agra for masquerading as an Indian Army soldier to deceive people for financial gain. By offering false promises of army-dependent benefits and job placements at the army canteen, Singh managed to collect money from unsuspecting victims by exploiting their trust.

Singh's tactics included using counterfeit ID cards to gain unauthorized entry into restricted army zones, where he would engage in dishonest practices. The viral video capturing his confession shows Singh being intercepted while riding a motorcycle, with incriminating evidence such as an army uniform, shoes, and a fabricated ID card discovered in his possession. Upon inquiry, Singh disclosed that the fake ID card was sourced from the internet, and he would charge individuals exorbitant amounts for forged deceased dependent cards and canteen access cards, amounting to as much as Rs. 20,000.

STF officials disclosed that Singh had a history of criminal activities, having served prior jail terms for serious offenses like rape and fraud. His latest offense of impersonating a soldier and orchestrating a job scam led to the filing of a case against him at Sadar police station, where he faces legal consequences for his fraudulent actions. The testimonies of victims who fell prey to Singh's schemes highlighted the impact of his deceitful practices, with multiple individuals coming forward to recount their experiences of being duped by his false assurances of employment within the army canteen.
