Despite the turbulent situation in Dhaka following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid anti-government protests, Air India has announced plans to continue operating evening flights AI237 and AI238 on the Delhi-Dhaka-Delhi route on Tuesday. In response to the unrest, the airline is providing a one-time waiver to passengers who wish to reschedule their flights to and from Dhaka between 4th and 7th August 2024.
The closure of the airspace to civilian flights led to the cancellation of scheduled flights between India and Bangladesh by Air India and IndiGo. In light of these circumstances, Air India emphasized its commitment to prioritizing the safety of its customers and crew members and assured passengers that their well-being remains a top concern. Despite the challenges posed by the current situation, Air India encouraged customers to connect with their Contact Centre or visit their website for more information on rescheduling and booking procedures.
Before the cancellations caused by the unrest, Air India had been operating two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka, while Vistara offered daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly services from Delhi to the Bangladeshi capital. IndiGo, on the other hand, had been operating flights from various Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata to Dhaka.
