Democratic Bulgaria Calls for Action to Prevent Borislav Sarafov's Appointment as Prosecutor General
Ivaylo Mirchev, a member of the Democratic Bulgaria party, has expressed concern over the impending appointment of Borislav Sarafov as Bulgaria's next Prosecutor General. In an interview with BNT, Mirchev emphasized the urgency of preventing this appointment, citing the potential negative impact it could have on the country's judicial system.
Mirchev also highlighted the need for parliament to start functioning effectively, acknowledging the frustration of Bulgarian citizens who have been forced to participate in seven elections within a three-year period. He warned that continued political gridlock could lead to an eighth election.
Regarding the recent controversy surrounding two PP/DB coalition MPs, Yavor Bozhankov and Daniel Lorer, who refused to vote for Silvi Kirilov as president of the National Assembly, Mirchev advocated for dialogue and compromise rather than expulsions. He acknowledged the importance of party unity but emphasized the need for open communication and understanding.
Mirchev's statements reflect the growing concern within Bulgarian society about the direction of the country's legal system and the need for political stability. His call for action and emphasis on dialogue offer a potential path forward for overcoming the current political impasse.
