Indian Leaders Express Concern over Israel-Iran Conflict

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar shared his apprehension regarding the growing conflict between Israel and Iran during a conversation at the Carnegie Endowment in the US. He referred to Hamas' attack on Israel as a "terrorist attack" and emphasized the importance of any response considering international humanitarian law to minimize harm to civilian populations. Jaishankar expressed worries about the potential expansion of the conflict beyond Lebanon, including concerns about the Houthis, the Red Sea region, and the dynamics between Iran and Israel.

In a separate development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against the backdrop of escalating tensions in West Asia. Modi stressed the need to prevent further escalation in the region, asserting that terrorism should have no place in the world. He highlighted the significance of maintaining regional stability and ensuring the safe release of hostages, reaffirming India's commitment to supporting efforts for peace restoration in the region.
