Air India, a part of the Tata Group, has responded to the current situation in Dhaka by offering passengers with confirmed bookings on flights to and from Dhaka between 4th and 7th August 2024 a one-time waiver for rescheduling. This decision comes in the wake of unrest in Bangladesh after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned due to anti-government protests. The airline emphasized that the safety of their customers and crew is their top priority and provided contact details for more information or assistance.
Prior to this announcement, Air India operated two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka, while Vistara had daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly services from Delhi to the Bangladesh capital. IndiGo, another prominent airline, had flights connecting Dhaka from several major Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata. However, both Air India and IndiGo had to cancel some scheduled flights to and from Dhaka due to the ongoing situation in Bangladesh.
