Uttarakhand Inaugurates City Forest in Haldwani

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the City Forest (Nagar Van) in Haldwani on November 30th. The forest, built at a cost of one crore rupees, aims to provide a green oasis amidst the city's hustle and bustle.

The City Forest boasts a variety of attractions, including a lawn, bamboo hut, children's park, open-air gym, walking path, cycling trail, and even an elephant selfie point. Spread across 7.5 hectares of land, the forest is home to diverse botanical species like Khair, Sheesham, Teak, Kanjoo, Amaltash, Eucalyptus, Maulshree, Chatyun, Bamboo, Sandalwood, Neem, Bel, Parijat, and Pakhar.

Future plans for the City Forest include a cafeteria, souvenir shop, wellness area, butterfly garden, rock garden, cactus garden, expanded trails, and a canopy walkway.

Chief Minister Dhami also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for including Yoganagari Rishikesh in a list of 40 major tourist destinations. This initiative aims to promote tourism and develop Rishikesh into a world-class destination.

Under this scheme, a state-of-the-art rafting base station will be constructed in Rishikesh with an investment of Rs 100 crore. This project is expected to boost water sports and provide a thrilling experience for tourists. Additionally, the construction of the rafting base station will create new employment opportunities for locals and contribute to the state's economy.

Chief Minister Dhami remains committed to various developmental projects for the state's welfare. Earlier on Friday, he approved an amount of Rs 66.12 crore for the construction of roads and bridges in various assembly constituencies.
