Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles recovered 22 grams of Heroin No. 4 worth Rs 15.40 lakh from a woman in the Zote area of Champhai district.
The contraband was found hidden inside the woman's clothing bag.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Tlangmawii, has been apprehended and handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department for further legal proceedings.
In a separate operation aimed at countering cross-border drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Police Department, seized 22.676 kg of Methamphetamine tablets worth Rs 68.03 crore near the Balu Kai area in Zokhawthar.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops from the Combined Operation Base (COB) in Zokhawthar launched an ambush, leading to the recovery of the substantial narcotics consignment.
During the operation, a suspect was observed crossing the Tiau River carrying a brown sack. When challenged, the individual abandoned the consignment and fled towards Myanmar.
A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of the Methamphetamine tablets.
