Delhi Inaugurates 25 New Low-Cost EV Charging Stations
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi inaugurated 25 new low-cost Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations across the National capital on Wednesday. These stations are managed by Delhi Transco Limited, bringing the total number of charging stations managed by the company to 78.
The inauguration ceremony saw both the CM and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia unveil the plaque, inspect the facilities, and interact with officials to understand the station's functioning.
Delhi Government's Commitment to Clean Air and EV Adoption
CM Atishi highlighted the government's commitment to the development of the national capital, including its efforts to combat air pollution. She emphasized the success of Delhi's EV policy, launched in 2020, which has resulted in 12% of all newly registered vehicles in Delhi being electric.
Powering a Modern Delhi with EV Charging Stations
Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia referred to the charging stations as "power banks of modern Delhi." He highlighted the government's vision of encouraging people to shift towards electric vehicles and the policies implemented to achieve this goal.
Sisodia also mentioned the government's ambitious target of having 80% of new vehicle purchases in Delhi be electric by 2025. He emphasized the government's role in tackling challenges and overcoming obstacles to achieve this goal.
Delhi's Leadership in EV Adoption
Sisodia concluded by thanking the people of Delhi for electing an "educated and visionary leader" who is committed to tackling modern challenges with innovative solutions. He expressed his belief that Delhi's leadership will ensure clean air for future generations.
