Nvidia CEO Sees Japan Leading AI Robotics Revolution

At a recent event in Tokyo, Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, expressed his belief that Japan is well-positioned to lead the AI robotics revolution. He highlighted the country's expertise in mechatronics, a key field for developing advanced robots.

digital and physical. Digital AI, represented by AI agents, will handle tasks like planning and document creation. Physical AI, embodied in robots, will take on manufacturing roles.

"No country in the world has greater skills in mechatronics than Japan," Huang stated. "I hope that Japan will take advantage of the latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and combine that with your world-class expertise in mechatronics."

Nvidia, a dominant player in the AI semiconductor market, has seen its stock price soar in recent years. During a conversation with Softbank Group CEO Masayoshi Son, Huang jokingly mentioned that it would have been interesting if Softbank had been Nvidia's largest shareholder.

Son responded that he had attempted to acquire Nvidia on three occasions, including offering financial support when the market undervalued the company. Huang jokingly expressed regret for not accepting the offer.

On the same day, Softbank Corp. announced the development of AI-RAN, a system integrating AI and RAN (Radio Access Network) using Nvidia's technology. Softbank is also strengthening its computing infrastructure with Nvidia's GPUs to develop large language models specifically for Japanese.
