"Made in USA" Cartridge Cases Recovered, Anti-Encroachment Drive Continues
Following the violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on November 24, the police have recovered fired cartridge cases marked "Made in USA." The cases were found during a joint cleaning and search operation conducted by the police and the municipality.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishan Kumar Bishnoi stated that two fired cases of 7.65 mm and two of 12 bore, with "Made in USA" inscribed on them, were found. In a previous search, a fired case from the Pakistan Ordnance Factory was also recovered. A total of 10 banned cartridges have been discovered so far.
To ensure peace during Friday prayers, the Rapid Action Force (RAF), local police, District Magistrate, and SP conducted a flag march in the area on Thursday. Several companies of PAC and RAF have been deployed as a precaution, and barricades, rooftop monitoring, and drone surveillance will be in place.
New CCTVs have been installed in Sambhal to replace those damaged during the violence. The SP and DM also met with members of the Peace Committee, urging them to promote harmony.
Meanwhile, an anti-encroachment drive is ongoing in Chandausi. The Executive Officer of Chandausi Municipality, Krishna Kumar Sonkar, stated that disputed land near the waterworks is being measured and cleared. Shops from Fawwara Chowk to Bajhoi Road have been demolished, and a similar campaign was conducted at Sambhal Gate. The drive will continue until the entire municipality is free from encroachments. Displaced individuals will be provided alternative accommodation.
The violence in Sambhal erupted during an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) examination of a Mughal-era mosque, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
