India's Aviation Takes Flight with the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024

A New Era for Indian Aviation

The Rajya Sabha passed the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, a transformative piece of legislation that replaces the outdated Aircraft Act of 1934. This new law aims to modernize India's aviation sector, promote ease of doing business, and enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities.

The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, brings several key changes to the Indian aviation landscape. It empowers the Central Government to regulate the issuance of Radio Telephone Operator (Restricted) Certificates and licenses, streamlining the process for businesses. Additionally, it aligns India with international conventions, ensuring that the country's aviation standards are at par with global best practices.

The new law also seeks to promote the design, manufacture, and maintenance of aircraft and related equipment within India. This will not only boost the domestic aviation industry but also create new job opportunities.

Furthermore, the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, empowers the Central Government to issue orders in emergencies related to public safety or tranquillity. It also provides for compensation for loss or damage caused by such emergencies and establishes an appeal process for matters related to compensation, licenses, certificates, approvals, and penalties.

The bill also includes provisions for imprisonment, fines, and penalties for contravening the Act or its rules. This ensures that the law is effectively enforced and that safety standards are maintained.

The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the development of India's aviation sector. It is expected to pave the way for a more robust, efficient, and globally competitive aviation industry in the country.
