Prime Minister Modi's PRAGATI Platform Revolutionizes Project Execution in India

A recent University of Oxford study highlights the transformative impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's PRAGATI platform on project execution in India. Launched in 2015, PRAGATI has facilitated the resolution of bureaucratic challenges, accelerating the completion of key infrastructure projects.

By June 2023, over 340 projects worth ₹17.05 lakh crore ($205 billion) had been reviewed under PRAGATI. The platform's utilization of real-time data, drone feeds, and video conferencing has streamlined processes, leading to significant progress across rail, road, power, and aviation sectors. The study credits Modi's hands-on leadership for driving urgency and accountability.

The report cites several success stories, including the Bogibeel Rail and Road Bridge in Assam, the Jammu Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link in Jammu and Kashmir, and the Bengaluru Metro Rail Project in Karnataka. PRAGATI has also played a crucial role in expediting the Haridaspur-Paradeep Rail Line in Odisha, resolving land acquisition hurdles for the Dahisar-Surat Highway expansion in Maharashtra and Gujarat, and facilitating progress on the Varanasi-Aurangabad Highway widening project in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The North Karanpura Thermal Power Plant in Jharkhand and the Navi Mumbai International Airport in Maharashtra have also benefited from PRAGATI's intervention. The Oxford study concludes that PRAGATI has not only fast-tracked stalled projects but also promoted sustainable practices by integrating green technologies and facilitating environmental clearances. The report emphasizes that "by embracing digital tools and fostering collaboration, India has charted a path that other emerging economies can emulate.
