Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani, aged 96, has been released from AIIMS after a recent admission for health issues related to his advanced age. He underwent a minor medical procedure and was evaluated by a team of doctors from various specialties, including urology and geriatric medicine, during his time at the hospital.
Hailing from Karachi and born in 1927, Advani's political career has spanned several decades, witnessing significant milestones such as being conferred with India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, earlier this year. A founding member of the BJP, Advani played a crucial role in the party's establishment in the early 1980s after departing from the Janata Party alongside other members of the Jana Sangh.
Prior to his recent hospitalization, Advani served as the deputy prime minister of India during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure and held various leadership positions within the BJP, including multiple terms as the party's president. Notably, he was at the forefront of the Ram Temple movement and was a key figure during his time as the leader of opposition in India's government.
