In a recent development, a Bengaluru court has decided to prolong the police custody of Prajwal Revanna, a former Member of Parliament, until June 10 due to allegations of sexual harassment lodged against him. The ex-MP from Hassan was apprehended by the Karnataka Police shortly after his arrival at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport during the early hours of a Friday last week.
Under the jurisdiction of a special investigation team (SIT), Revanna has been subjected to examinations by a panel of doctors from the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Centre in Bengaluru to evaluate his physical and mental well-being. This initiative by the SIT aims to gather insights into Revanna's health to possibly use in the ongoing investigations pertaining to the sexual harassment cases levelled against him.
During a visit to the A B Vajpayee Medical College Hospital (Bowring Hospital) in central Bengaluru on Wednesday, Revanna underwent a comprehensive examination conducted by a team of six medical experts that lasted for over four hours. The examination focused on creating a comprehensive profile of the accused's physical, psychological, and sexual aspects which are anticipated to serve as vital evidence in the forthcoming trials related to the alleged sexual offenses. Sources from the police department mentioned that this unique analysis, unlike a potency test which is not mandated in rape cases, has been initiated to augment the investigative process.
