BJP Demands Investigation, Singhvi Calls for Security Probe
A bundle of cash was reportedly found on the seat allotted to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha, sparking demands for an investigation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and calls for a security probe from Singhvi himself.
BJP MP K Laxman demanded a thorough investigation into the matter, stating that it was unclear whose money it was and what its purpose was. He emphasized the need to determine the source and intent behind the cash.
Singhvi, responding to the incident, called for an investigation into the apparent security lapse and questioned how the money ended up on his seat. He suggested the implementation of stricter security measures, such as lockable glass enclosures for seats, to prevent such occurrences in the future.
He further expressed concern that the incident could be politically motivated, aimed at diverting attention from the Adani issue. Congress party sources echoed this sentiment, alleging that the cash discovery was a "ploy to divert attention."
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the House about the discovery of the cash, stating that it was found during a routine anti-sabotage check. He confirmed that an investigation has been initiated into the matter.
